New Huawei Mate X7 Breaks Cover With Stunning Design Ahead of Launch

Last Updated: December 31, 2025

Huawei is gearing up for another big unveiling next week, and this time, all eyes are on the Huawei Mate X7 – the brand’s newest foldable phone packed with a sleek design, improved durability, and some exciting camera upgrades. Alongside the Mate 80 series, which officially launched on November 25th, the Huawei Mate X7 is shaping up to be one of the most attention-grabbing foldable phones of the year. The company recently teased the device on its official Weibo account, giving us a closer look at what’s coming.

Huawei Mate X7 Design Revealed Through Official Teasers

In a set of promo videos shared on Twitter, Huawei offered the first official look at the Huawei Mate X7 and its key specifications. The phone flaunts a large circular camera module on the rear panel, surrounded by a gold ring that gives it a premium, luxurious touch. Inside the module, several cutouts hint at a triple-camera setup featuring the expected main, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses.

The videos also highlight Huawei’s extreme durability tests. The Huawei Mate X7 is shown surviving an 80°C hot water spray, a heavy iron-ball impact test, and multiple intense folding rounds – all before the phone even leaves the factory. According to the fine print, the foldable device is certified with both IP58 and IP59 ratings, meaning it offers advanced protection against dust, splashes, and water jets. Not many foldable phones can boast this level of resilience.

A More Polished, Symmetrical Camera Design

One of the most eye-catching upgrades on the Huawei Mate X7 is the redesigned camera outline. It looks more refined and symmetrical than previous models, featuring four rear lenses, including a periscope zoom camera, a large LED flash, and Huawei’s advanced XMAGE imaging technology.

While the overall design language is similar to last year’s Mate X6, Huawei seems to have introduced a fresh rear panel texture, likely to enhance grip and aesthetic appeal. The camera department is expected to deliver a meaningful leap in performance, thanks to upgraded sensors and better image processing.

High-End Camera Hardware for Serious Photographers

According to reports, Huawei tested two different main camera sensors for the Mate X7 – both 50MP, but with different sizes:

  • 50MP 1/1.56-inch sensor
  • 50MP 1/1.3-inch sensor

Both main cameras are said to support physical variable aperture, a feature Huawei has been refining in its flagship phones. Additionally, the Huawei Mate X7 will include a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with macro capabilities and a red maple multispectral camera, which comes with second-generation enhancements for better color accuracy and environmental sensing.

This setup makes it clear that Huawei is aiming to give the Mate X7 an edge in mobile photography, especially in challenging lighting conditions.

Large LTPO Display With an Ultra-Thin Design

A well-known tipster claims to have seen the engineering prototype of the Huawei Mate X7, confirming several exciting details. The foldable device will reportedly come in five attractive colors:
Black, Purple, Red, Blue, and White.

The main display is said to be a spacious 7.95-inch LTPO panel with UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) technology for improved flexibility and durability.

For comparison, the Mate X6 launched with a 7.93-inch screen offering 2440 × 2240 resolution, 1800 nits peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, and upgraded Kunlun Glass. So, the Huawei Mate X7 is expected to deliver a slightly larger and potentially more advanced display experience.

Bigger Battery, Better Cameras, and a Slimmer Build

The same tipster also mentioned that the Huawei Mate X7 will feature several important upgrades:

  • A bigger battery, expected to be around 5,500mAh, offering longer usage on a single charge.
  • A more powerful camera system, likely taking full advantage of the new imaging hardware.
  • A lighter, thinner design despite the larger battery and top-tier specs.

These improvements suggest Huawei is aiming for a better balance between power, comfort, and all-day usability.

Next-Generation Performance With Kirin 9030

The Huawei Mate X7 is rumored to be powered by Huawei’s next-gen Kirin 9030 chipset. This same chip is also expected to appear in the Mate 80 series, giving both lineups a boost in processing power, efficiency, and AI capabilities.

If these reports turn out to be accurate, the Huawei Mate X7 could deliver flagship-level performance while maintaining its ultra-thin foldable design.

Expected Launch

As of now, all signs point to the Huawei Mate X7 making its official debut on November 25th, right alongside the Mate 80 series. With its revamped camera system, larger display, tougher build, and premium finishes, the device has all the ingredients to stand out in an increasingly competitive foldable market.

For now, we’ll have to wait for launch day to see which of these leaked specs become reality – and how many of them will truly impress consumers and give the Huawei Mate X7 an edge over its rivals.
