Poco X8 Pro Leak: 7650mAh Battery and Dimensity 8500 Ultra Rumored

A new leak from tipster Anvin suggests the Poco X8 Pro will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset and a battery capacity of up to 7,650mAh. The information surfaced online today, showing a shift to metallic frames and introducing a higher-end Max tier with a 9,000mAh cell.

The Poco X8 Pro & Max Leaked Details

  • Processor: The Poco X8 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra. Early reviewer notes suggest it handles 120FPS in titles like BGMI with ease. A solid performance step up from the X7 Pro’s Dimensity 8400 Ultra.
  • Display: Expect a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel pushing a 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate. It hits a blinding 3,500 nits of peak brightness. The screen is slightly smaller than last year’s 6.67-inch display, but it is a massive 300 nits brighter.
  • Battery & Charging: Here is the wild part. We are looking at a 6,500mAh to 7,650mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W fast charging. The X7 Pro had a 6,550mAh cell with 90W charging. This represents a massive leap in multi-day endurance and a nice bump in charging speed.
  • Camera System: A 50MP Sony IMX882 primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 20MP front camera. This is virtually unchanged from the X7 Pro. The camera hardware remains stagnant.
  • Build Quality: Say goodbye to cheap plastic. The new 8.1mm chassis uses metallic frames. It also boasts an IP68 or IP69K rating for superior dust and water resistance. Moving from plastic to metal is a massive structural upgrade for this specific price tier.
  • Pricing: The base variant (8GB+256GB) is rumored to cost approximately ₹43,000. Moving up to the 512GB storage model bumps the price to ₹48,000, while the fully loaded 12GB+512GB configuration will demand ₹51,000.

The Poco X8 Pro Max Variant

We also need to talk about the big sibling to the Poco X8 Pro, the new Max variant. This is uncharted territory for the brand.

  • Processor: Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s. It reportedly crushes AnTuTu with a benchmark score over 3.6 million.
  • Display: A massive 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED at 120Hz, hitting 3,000 nits peak brightness.
  • Battery: A borderline tablet-sized 8,500mAh to 9,000mAh battery. It supports 100W wired and 27W reverse charging.
  • Camera: 50MP Light Hunter 600 main sensor (OIS), 8MP ultra-wide, and a 20MP selfie shooter.
  • Extras: A 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. It will run on Android 16 with HyperOS. Color options include Black, White, and Turquoise.
  • Pricing: Expected to hit roughly ₹59,990 in India.

The Reality Check

I’ve seen this pattern before with this brand. Supply chain leakers often get the battery tech and chipsets right a few weeks before the mid-March launch window. The industry shift to high-density silicon-carbon batteries is very real right now. That makes a 7,650mAh number highly probable for a thick mid-ranger. I am docking three points, though. Anvin’s claim of a 9,000mAh battery for the Max feels overly ambitious for a mainstream device. That spec borders on heavy, rugged-phone territory.

I honestly think the base Poco X8 Pro is the upgrade I’ve been waiting for. Moving away from plastic frames to a sleek metal chassis fixes my biggest historical complaint about this series. You get premium durability without paying flagship prices. When you look at rival devices from OnePlus and Motorola in the sub-₹50,000 segment, very few offer a true metal frame alongside a battery exceeding 6,000mAh. This gives the base model a distinct, tangible advantage.

But that Max version? I think it is a waste of money for most buyers. Paying nearly ₹60,000 for a performance mid-range brand just to get a heavier phone and a 3D ultrasonic sensor doesn’t make sense. True flagships live in that exact price bracket. Competitors like realme and iQOO will definitely feel the heat from the metal build on the standard Pro model, but they won’t sweat the Max.

Conclusion

Should you wait for this launch? Absolutely. If you are holding onto an older X5 or X6 device, the jump in build quality and battery life alone justifies the wait. Just skip the expensive Max tier and stick to the standard model for the best overall value. If you want a metal phone with incredible endurance, the Poco X8 Pro looks like a clear winner. I will keep tracking the supply chain for more confirmation on the Poco X8 Pro.
