Xiaomi 18 Leak: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 & 7000mAh Battery Surface

A new leak from tipster Debayan Roy suggests the Xiaomi 18 series will feature a 7000mAh battery and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. Information surfaced online today indicating a major shift toward a 200MP periscope telephoto camera across the entire lineup, well ahead of the expected late 2026 launch.

The Xiaomi 18 Leaked Details

We are still months away from the expected September 2026 debut in China, with broader global and Indian rollouts likely to follow in March 2027. Yet, the supply chain is already leaking like a sieve. If these hardware specs hold up in production, the entire Xiaomi 18 series, Standard, Pro, Pro Max, and Ultra, is getting a massive, market-disrupting overhaul.

  • The Silicon: The base Xiaomi 18, Pro, and Pro Max are tipped to run the unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. The flagship Ultra model will reportedly monopolize the exclusive Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro variant.
  • The Screens: The standard model keeps things relatively compact with a 6.4-inch LTPO OLED at 120Hz. The Pro goes a bit smaller at 6.36 inches (LTPO AMOLED) but pushes a blazing 144Hz refresh rate and 3,000+ nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, the Pro Max and Ultra will stretch into phablet territory with 6.9-inch 2K displays.
  • The Cameras: The Xiaomi 18 series leak points to a 200MP periscope telephoto lens across the entire lineup. The Pro models might even flex dual 200MP sensors (main and periscope) along with a 50MP ultra-wide.
Xiaomi 18 series launch on March 2027
  • The Power: Every device in the Xiaomi 18 series is rumored to feature a staggering 7,000mAh battery, backed by 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
  • The Software & Build: Expect IP68/IP69 durability ratings and the debut of HyperOS 3.1, built on Android 17.
  • The Price: Early whispers suggest the India pricing will start around ₹65,990 for the 12GB+256GB base model, climbing to ₹79,990 for the higher-tier Pro versions.

The current Xiaomi 17 base model houses a 6,330mAh battery, which is already great, and runs the Elite Gen 5 chip. Jumping to a 7,000mAh cell in a similar 6.4-inch footprint is a massive engineering flex. You get nearly 700mAh of extra capacity without carrying a brick in your pocket. Likewise, the shift from the 17’s standard 50MP telephoto to a dedicated 200MP periscope lens on the base model is exactly the kind of hardware leap you want to see.

I’ve seen this pattern before with early supply chain leaks. Tipster Debayan Roy has a solid track record, but predicting exact chip nomenclature and dual 200MP camera setups nearly a year out can be tricky. Specs often change during prototype testing.

That being said, the battery claim is completely believable. The smartphone industry is rapidly adopting high-density silicon-carbon battery tech. Hitting 7,000mAh is no longer science fiction for a flagship phone; it is becoming the new baseline.

I honestly think the dual 200MP setup on the Pro model sounds like a recipe for a ridiculously huge camera bump. It feels like spec-sheet padding to me. Do you really need two 200MP sensors on the back of your phone? Probably not. But I will admit, throwing a periscope lens and a massive battery into the entry-level model is exactly the upgrade I’ve been waiting for. If they pull this off, Samsung is going to have a massive marketing problem. The Galaxy S26 base models still rely heavily on 50MP sensors and much smaller batteries. This spec sheet would completely cannibalize the competition.

If you are holding onto a device from 2024 or earlier, the jump to this new generation will be night and day. The combination of Android 17, a multi-day battery, and top-tier zoom capabilities makes this a release worth tracking. However, if you recently bought into the 17 series, you are fine sitting this one out. I will keep digging into the supply chain to verify these camera claims as we get closer to the official announcement of the Xiaomi 18.
