Realme has expanded its lineup of wearables with the new Realme Watch S5. The brand launched this smartwatch alongside the Realme 16T and Buds Air 8 Pro. Aimed at the mid-range market, this smartwatch offers long battery life and fitness tracking. It serves as a reliable choice for active consumers.

Realme Watch S5 Specifications

The Realme Watch S5 has a rounded 1.43-inch AMOLED display that can reach up to 1500 nits of brightness. This is a significant improvement over the older Realme Watch 5, which was released just five months ago with a 1.97-inch square screen limited to 600 nits. The switch back to a circular design resembles the older Realme Watch S2. However, the new model replaces the heavier stainless steel case with a lighter aluminum build. Users will enjoy a clear resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, with a density of 302 PPI, and Panda Glass to protect against scratches.

Even with the strap, the watch weighs only 49.63 grams. This makes it comfortable for all-day wear, whether during workouts or while sleeping. The device houses a 460mAh battery, claiming up to 20 days of battery life. The previous Realme Watch S2 had a 380mAh battery, and while the square Watch 5 also had a 460mAh battery, it struggled to last more than 16 days under regular use. Users will charge the device magnetically, which takes about 2.5 hours to reach full capacity.

Realme Watch S5 Specifications

The Realme Watch S5 features built-in GPS powered by five global satellite navigation systems. This allows runners and cyclists to track their routes without needing a smartphone. The Watch 5 and Watch S2 did not have standalone GPS, making this a significant upgrade for active users. The device supports over 110 sports modes and offers advanced health monitoring, including continuous tracking of heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep, and environmental noise levels.

Users can make voice calls directly from the watch using the built-in speaker and microphone. This Bluetooth calling feature carries over smoothly from previous models, but the new watch does not have the 200MB offline music storage available on the Watch 5. The Realme Watch S5 fully utilizes its AMOLED display by featuring an Always On Display and custom watch faces. It comes with a 5ATM water resistance rating, making it suitable for swimming and a step up from the basic IP68 rating found on the Watch S2.

Availability & Pricing

The official price for the Realme Watch S5 is set at Rs 7,999 in India. An early bird offer reduces the price to Rs 7,499 temporarily. The smartwatch will go on sale starting June 5 at 12 PM through Flipkart, the official online store, and other retail outlets. Buyers can choose from Rock Grey and Sand White colors. However, they should note that this price is noticeably higher than the older Watch S2, which launched around Rs 4,999.

This higher price places the device in competition with other products like the Noise Pro 6R, Amazfit Bip 6, and CMF Watch Pro 2. These brands also offer premium builds and long battery life. The standalone GPS feature provides the Realme model with a unique advantage in this crowded market. It remains to be seen if customers are willing to pay more for this combination of features.

The launch of the Realme Watch S5 indicates a strategic shift towards independent fitness tracking. The built-in GPS and the significant increase in display brightness justify the higher price compared to older models. Users who usually rely on their phones for tracking may find the price increase a bit steep for their basic needs.

However, those looking for a dependable, phone-free workout experience will see great value in this watch. The improvements in battery efficiency also make it a strong option for anyone frustrated with frequent charging. Ultimately, the Realme Watch S5 represents a well-rounded upgrade in the growing market for smart wearables.
