Infinix has announced its latest entry-level phone, the Infinix Hot 70. This new model features a large 6,000mAh battery and a color-changing back panel aimed at budget buyers. However, the brand has made some choices in hardware that potential buyers should consider before spending their money.
The Strategy Behind the Design
Smartphone brands are trying to attract entry-level customers with eye-catching designs rather than just performance. The upcoming Infinix Hot 70 is creating buzz mainly because of its “Thermo Orange” finish, which changes color based on temperature. You can also choose from Green Texture, Quiet Violet, Dive Blue, Silver Dancer, and Night Pulse black.

Infinix has added a hardware shortcut key on the side of the device. This button can be customized to open apps or activate specific features instantly. While the color-shifting phone looks impressive in videos, I always question whether the actual hardware makes the purchase worthwhile. A flashy design can’t conceal basic internal specifications during daily use.
Infinix Hot 70: Expected Specification
When you look at the features of the Infinix Hot 70, its processing power might catch you off guard. Infinix has chosen the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate chipset for this model. This is the same processor that powered last year’s Note 50 Pro series. Infinix Hot 70 can handle casual gaming, social media, and daily multitasking well. However, it’s important to remember that it is strictly a 4G chip.
The display is a mixed bag. You get a large 6.78-inch IPS LCD panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The downside is the HD+ resolution (720 x 1576 pixels). Many competitors now offer sharper FHD+ screens in this price range, making this display feel somewhat outdated.
The camera system meets basic needs but doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking. The back has a 50MP primary lens and an unspecified secondary sensor, while the front features an 8MP selfie camera. These cameras will take acceptable photos for social media, but pro-level photography is out of reach. The phone comes with the latest Android 16-based XOS 16 software.
Battery Life Takes Priority
For me, the standout feature of the Infinix Hot 70 is the battery performance. The company built a sizable 6,000mAh battery into a slim 7.49mm body. The phone weighs 195g, which is reasonable for a battery of this capacity.

It supports 45W wired fast charging, letting you spend less time connected to a charger. The added 10W reverse wired charging gives it practical benefits. I often use my phone to charge my wireless earbuds, so having this feature on a budget device is very handy.
How It Compares to the Older Generation
Comparing the Infinix Hot 70 to its predecessor, the Hot 60, reveals a strange decision. The older Hot 60 had a MediaTek Dimensity 7020 5G processor. Switching from a 5G chip on the older model to a 4G chip on the newer version seems like a big downgrade.
The older Hot 60 had a smaller 5,200mAh battery with slower 18W charging. Therefore, the new model clearly excels in battery capacity and charging speeds. However, some tech enthusiasts may dislike the choice to drop 5G connectivity just to add a color-shifting back panel and faster charging.
The Premium Sibling: Note 60 Pro 5G
If the base model doesn’t meet your needs, consider the premium devices the brand has recently launched. While we await details on the Hot 70 Pro and Pro+ models, Infinix has already released the Note 60 Pro 5G in India in April 2026.
The Note 60 Pro 5G offers a significant upgrade. It features a premium aluminum frame and a health sensor for measuring heart rate and SpO2 levels. The display is a striking 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED flat panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits.

Under the hood, it runs on the efficient 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, which can manage heavy gaming with ease, achieving 120 FPS in Call of Duty Mobile. It includes a 6,500mAh battery in a slim 7.45mm body, supporting fast 90W wired and 30W wireless charging.
The Infinix Hot 70 offers excellent battery life and an enjoyable design. If you want a phone that lasts two full days on a charge and looks unique, this device is a solid choice. However, if you prefer high-resolution displays or need 5G speeds, this model may not meet your expectations. The absence of 5G is disappointing, especially when the older model had it. You might find it better to either seek out a discounted Hot 60 or save for the superior Note 60 Pro 5G.
