Sources claim that Samsung has already provided chip samples to Qualcomm that were fabricated using its 2nm SF2 process. This suggests a deeper collaboration between the two companies, especially at a time when Samsung is trying to prove the capabilities of its next-generation chip manufacturing technology. For context, the recently launched Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset is built on TSMC’s 3-nanometer process technology, also known as N3P. Manufacturing this advanced chip on Samsung’s 2nm process could give it a technological edge, at least on paper.
A possible return to Snapdragon for the Flip series
Samsung usually relies on Qualcomm processors for its flagship Galaxy S-series smartphones. However, these are not standard chips. Instead, Samsung uses custom “for Galaxy” variants with slightly different clock speeds and optimisations. This approach has helped Samsung deliver better performance tuning for its premium phones.
When it comes to foldables, the situation has been mixed. The last Galaxy Z Flip smartphone to use a Snapdragon processor was the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which came with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. After that, Samsung made a shift towards its in-house Exynos processors for the Flip series.

While Exynos chips have improved over time, they often face criticism related to performance consistency and thermal management when compared to Snapdragon counterparts.
