The upcoming Honor Magic9 series brings a massive improvement in battery capacity compared to its predecessor, the Honor Magic8 series. Last year, the base model Honor Magic8 featured a 7,000mAh battery and a 64-megapixel triple rear camera setup, while the Honor Magic8 Pro model utilized a 6,270 mAh battery alongside the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.
The previous generation model featured the Dimensity 9500 chipset and a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED screen, including the ‘Magic8 Pro Air’. However, the new ‘Honor Magic9’ series, set to be officially unveiled in Beijing on September 28, 2026, surpasses those specifications by placing a strong emphasis on professional-grade video tools.

Previous leaks reveal that the base model of the Honor Magic 9 series features an 8,000mAh battery and a Snapdragon 8E5 processor. On the other hand, the premium Honor Magic 9 Pro Max model comes with an 8,800 mAh battery and a faster Snapdragon 8EE6 processor.
Instead of a standard upgrade, its primary camera system employs a cinematic triple-camera layout engineered by ARRI. It features two 200-megapixel sensors alongside a massive 500mm Honor teleconverter and a lightweight, 88-gram 200mm ‘thumb’ teleconverter.
A standout feature of the Honor Magic9 series is the industry’s first square front-facing camera, powered by a 55-megapixel ‘Agile Eye’ sensor. This allows for capturing horizontal or vertical frames without rotating the device, although its practical application relies primarily on sensor cropping within MagicOS 11.
For video creators, the phone introduces an ARRI Cinema Mode that includes a LogC3 video pipeline, focus peaking, and false-color monitoring. It utilizes ARRI’s color science and a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, complemented by a new ‘3-Second Movie Live’ function.
Audio quality has seen significant improvement, as the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max variant incorporates the industry’s first cinematic-grade ‘gun’ microphone.
In addition to camera upgrades, the Honor Magic9 series incorporates the proprietary third-generation ‘C3 RF Enhancement Chip’ and a ‘Seven-Core RF AI Scheduling Architecture.’ To maintain a strong signal in areas with unstable network connectivity, this system can automatically switch between 356 frequency band combinations across 38 different scenarios.
At the official launch of the Honor Magic9 series, customers will have the option to choose from four different color variants; this includes the ‘Black Curtain’ version, promoted by global ambassador Xiao Zhan.
