According to tipster Abhishek Yadav and a company announcement this Thursday, a major tablet launch is coming soon. The OnePlus Pad 4 official launch date in India is set for April 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM IST. The expected price is ₹59,990. This positions it as a serious premium contender in a market led by Apple and Samsung.

Looking at the current market, we can see an interesting shift. Last year, the older OnePlus Pad 3 launched in June 2025 with the original Snapdragon 8 Elite. Now, the OnePlus Pad 4 features the much newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, built on a highly efficient 3nm architecture. This suggests a significant price increase compared to last year. It indicates that flagship Android tablets are moving out of the budget range to compete directly with Apple.

The battery on the OnePlus Pad 4 has significantly increased from 12,140mAh in the previous model to a leading 13,380mAh cell. The display brightness increases slightly from 900 nits to 1,000 nits, improving outdoor visibility. The device comes with OxygenOS 16 out of the box. This new software includes a revamped Open Canvas 2.0, enhancing management of 13-inch windows.

The Spec Sheet: Inside the Metal Unibody

The spec sheet for the OnePlus Pad 4 is quite impressive. It features a large 13.2-inch 3.4K True Color LCD screen with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. The new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip powers the device. To keep it running, the huge 13,380mAh battery supports 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. Audio is delivered by an impressive eight-speaker Omnibearing system with four bass drivers and four tweeters.

The tablet sports a beautiful metal unibody design available in Dune Glow and Sage Mist. This metal unibody does more than look good; it acts as a large heat sink for the powerful processor inside the OnePlus Pad 4. This thermal design prevents the software from slowing down during heavy gaming sessions.

However, the back of the tablet will feel noticeably hotter compared to a plastic-backed iPad. Targeting gamers, this thermal design is a smart move, but you should expect slightly warm hands during intense graphical tasks.

The Accessory Trap and Stylo Pro

OnePlus is focusing heavily on the creative market with the new Stylo Pro accessory. They have improved the stylus technology to support 16,000 pressure levels, far surpassing standard 4,096-level pens. This means the tablet can detect four times more nuance in a single brush stroke. It eliminates the digital jitter found in cheaper tablets, making it a genuine competitor to professional Wacom Cintiq displays. It even uses a built-in linear motor to vibrate against the glass, mimicking the friction of graphite on paper.

But there is a frustrating accessory trap for loyal upgraders. OnePlus has slightly changed the magnetic pogo-pin alignment on the back of the device. Even though the older and newer OnePlus Pad 4 look identical in size, your expensive older keyboard case will not fit. You will need to purchase a new keyboard to match the new pin layout. This seems like an anti-consumer move aimed at forcing accessory upgrades.

Surviving the Premium Tablet Wars

How does it compare to tough competition? The Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra poses a major threat with its bigger 14.6-inch AMOLED screen and true IP68 water resistance. However, the OnePlus charges nearly twice as fast at 80W and offers a more comfortable 7:5 aspect ratio for reading. Then there’s the popular Apple iPad Air 13-inch with the 2026 M4 chip. The Apple M4 chip is unbeatable for video editing in Final Cut Pro.

Yet, the Apple tablet has a basic 60Hz display and weaker speakers. The OnePlus provides a far superior 144Hz screen and an immersive eight-speaker setup. Lastly, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro is often ₹10,000 cheaper with similar specs. However, OnePlus excels with a better accessory ecosystem and cleaner software. You won’t have to deal with the annoying ads found in Xiaomi’s interface.
