Infinix is expanding its entry-level lineup with the upcoming Infinix SMART 20, which aims to be a budget-friendly option for buyers who want high-refresh-rate displays. The phone has already been released in the Philippines, Malaysia, and West Africa. Now, the brand plans to launch it officially in India on July 19, 2026.
Pricing Strategy
Looking at the international market, Infinix is keeping its prices very competitive. The global price is about $77 USD for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model, while the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant costs around $100 USD. In the Philippines, buyers can get the base 4GB and 64GB variant for ₱4,499, the 4GB and 128GB option for ₱5,299, and a higher-tier 4GB and 256GB variant for ₱6,999.
The expected price for the Infinix SMART 20 in India is ₹12,990 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. However, regulatory tracking data and a recent leak suggest that the brand may adjust prices to stay competitive. To achieve a sub-₹10,000 price target in India, the entry-level versions may drop the hardware NFC chip. The Indian model will also modify network band optimization to better suit local carriers, unlike the global version, which is tuned for Southeast Asian and African bands.
Infinix SMART 20: Specification
The core performance relies on the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate processor. This octa-core platform has two performance cores running at 2.0 GHz and six efficiency cores running at 1.8 GHz. It comes with the ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU for basic gaming and UI tasks. You get 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, which can effectively expand to 8GB using unallocated internal storage.
Storage options include 64GB or 128GB configurations using the older eMMC 5.1 architecture. While eMMC 5.1 is slower than UFS storage, it is standard for affordable devices. Thankfully, a dedicated microSDXC tray slot allows expansion up to 2TB. This chip choice is a shift from the Infinix SMART 10, which used a 12nm Unisoc T7250 platform.
The display module is one of the strongest features of the new Infinix SMART 20. It features a large 6.78-inch IPS LCD screen with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1576 pixels. The screen has dynamic adjustments that can switch between 45Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz based on your content. A 120Hz refresh rate is rare in this price range and ensures smooth scrolling. Outdoor visibility is decent, with a brightness of 560 nits that can increase to 700 nits in direct sunlight.
The camera system is basic and shows where the brand cut costs. The rear array has an 8MP AI main camera, a small depth sensor, and a dual LED flash. On the front, an 8MP punch-hole camera handles selfies with localized software lighting adjustments. While the resolution is low, the rear camera surprisingly supports video recording up to 2K at 30FPS. This setup is the same as the older model, so there is no significant improvement in photo quality.
Battery life is a key selling point for daily use. The phone includes a 5,200 mAh high-density battery, slightly larger than the 5,000 mAh in the previous model. It supports 15W wired charging through a Type-C connection. While a 15W charger will take time to charge such a large battery, the overall battery life should last beyond a full day of heavy use.
The design is ultra-slim, measuring just 7.7 mm in thickness, with a modern geometric rear layout reminiscent of premium smartphones. The build has an IP64 rating, protecting the internal hardware from dust and water splashes. Infinix claims the chassis has passed rigorous tests simulating drops from up to 1.5 meters. You can choose from four color variants: Shadow Black, Polaris Titanium, Sunlike Orange, and Cloudline Blue.
Budget Competition
The real challenge for the Infinix SMART 20 comes from strong competitors launching in mid-2026. The Realme C71 offers a comparable 120Hz refresh rate and a similar MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra processor. However, Realme outshines Infinix with a 50MP primary rear sensor and a larger 6,000 mAh battery, making it a better choice for heavy users.
Another significant competitor is the Redmi A7 Pro, aimed at the same audience. The Redmi model features a 6,300 mAh battery and a larger 6.9-inch display for an immersive experience. It also includes a higher resolution 13MP AI dual rear camera and runs on the newer Android 16 software. Infinix only leads in durability since the Redmi A7 Pro has a lower IP52 rating.
If the final price in India reaches the rumored ₹12,990, it will be hard to recommend the Infinix SMART 20. Competitors provide larger batteries, better software, and significantly higher camera resolutions for similar prices. This device makes more sense if the retail price drops closer to ₹8,000. At that lower price point, the 120Hz dynamic display and slim IP64-rated body would offer real value for money.
