New details regarding the Vivo Y600i, bearing the model number V2617A, have surfaced on the China Telecom website. Alongside the Vivo Y600 Turbo (featuring a 9,020mAh battery) and the Vivo Y600 Pro (with a 10,200mAh battery), this new entry-level device will further expand the brand’s long-standing Y-series lineup in China.
The new Vivo Y600i fills a gap in the market by packing a massive 8,000mAh battery into a robust build. It is the successor to the Vivo Y500i; notably, while the Vivo Y500i launched in China last January featuring a 7,200 mAh battery and 44W flash charging, it has not yet been unveiled in India.
The Vivo Y600i features a 6.87-inch LCD panel offering a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1592 x 720 pixels. Its brightness can reach up to 1,300 nits in ‘High Brightness Mode’; it utilizes DC dimming technology to reduce eye strain and holds TÜV Rheinland certification for software-based ‘low blue-light’ protection.
Robust hardware and a durable build are among the handset’s key highlights. Measuring 169.55 x 79.20 x 8.69 mm and weighing 229g, the phone offers protection against water and dust with IP68 and IP69 ratings; additionally, it has earned SGS ‘Five-Star Drop-Resistance’ certification.
The core hardware of the Vivo Y600i is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. It comes equipped with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.
Users can expand the storage capacity up to 2TB via a microSD card. Additionally, the device features ‘Memory Fusion’ technology, allowing for the addition of up to 12GB of virtual RAM.
The device runs on OriginOS 6, based on Android 16. A notable security-focused feature of the Vivo Y600i is its built-in AI anti-fraud system, which protects users by identifying fraudulent or scam phone calls.
For photography, it features a 50-megapixel (f/1.8) main camera with autofocus on the back. It also includes an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor for selfies and video calls.
The phone comes with a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor for quick unlocking. Other features include dual-SIM 5G support, Bluetooth 5.1, a standard USB Type-C port, and an infrared blaster for controlling home appliances.
Its massive 8,000 mAh battery easily provides enough power to last two to three days with normal use. It supports 44W wired fast charging and features ‘reverse charging’ to charge other external accessories.
Recharging such a high-capacity battery at 44W requires a bit of patience. However, the reverse charging feature effectively turns the phone into a power bank, making it useful for emergencies.
The official price of the Vivo Y600i (6GB RAM and 256GB storage variant) in China has been set at approximately $300 (around ₹28,779). The phone will be available in three colors, Stardust, Sky Blue, and Midnight Black, and retail sales in China are scheduled to begin on September 30.
