The POCO F9 Ultra was officially unveiled in select global markets on September 1, 2026. Although the device’s battery capacity has been significantly increased, its processor remains unchanged from the previous model.
The specifications list for the POCO F9 Ultra mentions the ‘Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5‘ mobile platform, built on a 3nm process and featuring an octa-core CPU. The same chip was used in the previous model, the POCO F8 Ultra, meaning there are no new advancements or innovations in terms of processing power. Buyers get ultra-fast LPDDR5X (9600 Mbps) memory and UFS 4.1 storage, available in configurations of 12GB+256GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB.
The phone measures 163.49 mm x 77.94 mm x 8.74 mm and weighs 235 grams. Its 6.9-inch 185Hz ultra-bright AMOLED display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision and is capable of delivering a peak brightness of 10,000 nits on 1% of the display area. This combination of refresh rate and brightness will enhance the gaming and scrolling experience.
POCO has introduced an excellent solution for photography and videography enthusiasts. A key feature of the POCO F9 Ultra is its 200-megapixel main camera, representing a massive leap in resolution compared to the F8 Ultra’s 50-megapixel main sensor. The rear camera setup also includes a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Additionally, there is a 32-megapixel camera on the front display for selfies.
The most notable improvement is its battery capacity; it features an 8,050 mAh battery, replacing the 6,500 mAh battery found in the F8 Ultra. It supports 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge. Its USB Type-C port utilizes USB 3.2 Gen 1 technology and offers up to 27W wired reverse charging and 22.5W wireless reverse charging capabilities. The phone runs on the Android 16 operating system with Xiaomi HyperOS 3. Additionally, it includes an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, AI face unlock, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The POCO F9 Ultra’s massive battery enables extended periods of gaming and social media usage.
Poco has significantly raised the price of the POCO F9 Ultra. The 12GB+256GB model is priced at $799 (₹76,800), the 16GB+512GB model at $949 (₹91,200), and the 16GB+1TB version at $1,199 (₹1,15,240). Although the phone features major upgrades in battery and camera performance, the fact that the chipset remains unchanged could make it difficult to sell at such a high price point.
